Default You ever feel bad for someone?

... I was at a local art show and I was checking out some of the "fine art" photographer people in the area and some where pretty damn good, I have to admit.

.... and then there was the "one"... you know the one... sitting there filled to the brim with just (I'm trying to be nice here)... errmm... Boring, uninspired and garden variety photos that everyone was passing on... even her prices where sub par, I remember looking at one photo priced at $40, thinking, "jeez the frame must have been at least $30".

The kind of photos where you can tell she just got the camera and still believes the horrid notion of "your camera takes nice photos".

Everyone passed her booth and I felt kind of bad for her, spending all that time/money/effort for a booth at the art fair and getting squat because her product just wasn't all that good.

She had a website, I went to it... it was even worse, I have to say. What's worse, is she bills herself as a "automotive photographer"... I thought, "oh good! We have something in common, I'll check it out."... I wish I hadn't.

I wanted so badly to say something to her about it, but had no clue how to approach it, or even if I should at all say a thing... But, to watch the entire crowd not even stop in for a second glance at her work was a bit painful to see.

I dunno... Maybe it's just the A-hole in me coming up, but I really did just want to help.

Anywho,

Thanks for reading.

~Eric

You should have purchased something from her, then you both could have felt better

In much the same way we dont feed the trolls online... that might be counterproductive in the grand scheme of things.

Not sure how that would have helped her... just reinforce her lack of skills? Then I'd end up with a photo I didn't like or want.... Sounds like ObamaCare. HAYYOOO!!!

I don't purchase anything from people like that. Don't want to support them or give them the idea that they are pros, which they aren't. However, I do give positive comments when I do see a striking photo.

Unfortunately that wasn't the case here, I tried to find something in her collection I could agree with but it just wasn't to be.

No, all you would have done is overpay $10 on a frame

Having kids does that to people Rachel. The rough edges are smoothed without you even realising it

I viewed her website, got as far as the classic cars and didn't want to go any farther. The home page looks like as if a "daughter of darkness" designed it.

Maybe suggest to her from one photographer to another that she check out this thriving community. That way, the ball is in her court. If she doesn't see any reason to, she keeps pumping out the product as it stands. If she does read/post here, she learns something and improves.
