Question What should be on a "To-Do" list?

Hola DPS

My name is Grisel but everyone just calls me Gigi.
I'm new to this photography hobby, as well as to this DPS.
I was hoping maybe you guys would give us newbies (or at least me) a "To-Do" list with the top 3 things (or more) to practice or of the top pictures to take. Hope to hear from you guys soon

What are your interests? What do you feel passionate about?
What inspires you?
Knowing a subject can help a lot.

Richard:
That was very helpful. There's so many things out there to photograph I just don't know where to start. Yikes!
^note to self; pick a topic and stick to it^

Eric: Well that makes a LOT of sense

First..understanding the exposure triange.
Second, ..DOF. (They kind of go together)

oh, and learn your camera...the steps above will help.

+1 SK66

If you have a garden, start there, especially if you have a P&S camera which makes it easy to take close ups.

Here are some examples from our garden.

#1 Shirts drying on our clothes line.

#2
Spider
Home for a spider.

#3
Butterfly .... these can be challenging.

#4
On our back porch.
On our back porch this morning.

I haven't posted any pics of flowers although I do have lots of those.
They can be easy.

If you don't have a garden then have a look around inside the house. I can post a few examples if need be.

Anything and everything. Don't ever turn down a photo shoot.

In the last 2 years, I've shot baby photos (newborn thru 12 months), maternity photos, several weddings, family photos (didn't like those), and a few model shoots. I was constantly looking for experience in everything. I've tried star trails, wildlife, landscape, macro...try it all!

Check out the "How I took It" section. Lots of good ideas and inspiration.

See a shot you like? Try and recreate it. You'll be suprised about how much you learn by try to copy someone else's work.
