Default ATTENTION! All DPS members in Texas,....

I'm new to central Texas and havent gotten out yet to take pictures. It's friggin hot here! I've seen a feild of purple flowers, I think theyre called Purple Lupins, in other photogs websites and even in advertising for some things around here. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me where it is. I dont venture much right now cause I'm kinda scared to. I've heard that Waco isnt the safest place and I'm not far from there. I'm afraid to go to Austin by myself and dont have anyone but my husband to go with me, and we usually have different schedules. I havent been here long and havent really made any friends yet. So if anyone could tell me where this feild is or other areas to take pictures in central Texas, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Are you talking about the Blue Bonnets? If so, that is the state flower. It is pretty popular for people to take pictures in fields of them. If that is what you are looking for, you will have to wait - they are not in season yet! There are tons of them in San Antonio (I have several friends that have taken family pictures there) and when they are in season, you will know it because they are EVERY WHERE!!!

Check this out and see if it's what you are thinking of:

That could be it. I kinda figured theyre a spring thing, like hyacenths. I'm kinda just looking for places to take photos as well.

I'm not familiar with Waco, but there are a lot of places in Austin to take pictures, including, but not limited to:

Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center

Various parts of the Bull Creek Greenbelt (Austin has a plethora of greenbelts)

Zilker Botanical Gardens

Mayfield Park & Preserve

I'm sure Waco has to have some parks, botanical gardens, or something you can wander through Blue Bonnets are typically a Late Feb/Early March - May flower, and you'll see them *everywhere* when they do bloom

Thank you velvet. I might have to check some of those out. I'm wanting to get a lil more explorative now that its gotten cooler. Austin is only an hour away. Hubby is stationed at Fort Hood.

I'm from Texas. Not there now.....unfortunately .

What you are talking about is Bluebonnets. They can be found pretty much anywhere and there is not one specific field to go photograph. They grow in massive patches, so keep your eyes open for the wonderful state flower! Another flower that is popular and grows in masses is the Indian Paintbrush. It is pretty much just a red version of the Bluebonnets.
