This was in my newspaper today: Disney launches website for fan photos, videos | floridatoday.com | FLORIDA TODAY
I waded my way through the legalities and it seemed to me that when you upload you pretty much sign away any rights however, my eyes started to glaze over half way down the page, so maybe I misunderstood. If I do understand correctly, it seems like Disney is the one who benefits. Being that it's Disney, I'm also sure that thousands plus thousands (to infinity & beyond even) of photos will be submitted. What exactly do people get out of this? I'm not a pro just a family photo journalist and I live close by and have lots of photos from Disney. Despite this I have no desire to just give them away to them. I will admit that a lot of that is because it's a big company who is going to end up benefiting in a big way for nothing. Regardless, It sure seems to be a pretty common phenomena these days. What's everyone's opinions? What motivates people to submit their photos? Oh and if I misunderstood the transfer of rights, would someone please post the section and interpretation. I doubt I would put up any regardless but I'd make me feel warm & fuzzier about Disney!
