Default Rights grabbers

A best friend of mine, another professional photographer, who I've know since 1977 when we attended Syracuse together received an email from Anthropics Technology Ltd (makers of Portrait Professional) asking his to submit images. This is his response to the
rights grabbing SOBs and I probably would have said the same thing.

Dear Friends,

Thank you for offer to use my photographs in your world-wide advertising effort. As a professional photographer I am always looking for ways to give away all rights to my images for absolutely no compensation. Seeing my credits when my photographs are used gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside, and it makes me feel like such an artist (starving, you know) that I find your offer very hard to refuse. Refuse I must however, Since, like you. I am in business to make a living.

Thank you again for your degrading offer. I am sure many amateurs will respond with images and you can steal their images for nothing more than a moment questionable fame.

Bottom line; You produce a nice product, but you are cheap bastards. How about treating your customers with a little more respect.

Regards,
John Wright

If their legaleze can't decide between first and third person, does that nullify it?

Sad thing is that there are enough idiots willing enough to give away their photos for free just for a little credit that it makes it worth it.

I have to question the economics though, wading through tons of shit that's head height to find the pearls, wouldn't it be cheaper to pay a decent sum for a decent product?

Reminds me of the song by the Dire Straits,,money for nothing.I would have loved to see the look on your friends face when he first read the e-mail. And good for him to send a PFO e-mail back them.
