Off topic here.. I recently received a letter to give a reference of my friend to a P.E.A.C.E. Big Brothers Big Sisters. I'm suppose to fill this rating form that will help determine whether or not she would be suitable to be working with children there. The first question is troubling me though, what do they mean when they ask "in what capacity have you known the applicant?" Is it just saying whether they are a friend, classmate, coworker, family, etc or something else entirely? Thank you for your help.

That would be my thought. They're asking how you know the person. Are you friends? Are they related to you? Did you meet them on the street yesterday?
Like you might know more about a person you're related to than a person from work. And unless you work in a child-related area, you probably wouldn't know how they interact with a child unless you're also friends with them outside of work.
