Default (Ab)using an assistant query.

I get to have my first assistant. Moving up in the world! HEY HEY! LOL

I already told him that I can't pay him (I really can't) and he's OK with that bit.

Shoot is going to last roughly 6-10 hours.

So, my question is, I already know what things I can have him do to help (organize memory cards, set up lights, organize "talent"...etc..) ... what sort of things can I abuse him for?

Love any good/wacky ideas

~Eric

How about just plain old civility and respect. Seems to work on people i work with, when they work for free.

How about understanding a joke when you hear it?

What about asking his opinion on the shoot. You never know he might suggest something different that you never thought of.

Use this opportunity to bounce ideas between you.

Have him get a light stretcher for you, to make sure the light reaches the subject.

You've won the award for the most unfunny answer to a hypothetical joke question.

You honestly think I'm going to degrade him and make him grovel at my monsterous photography shoe skills? *eyeroll*

Tell him that you've got OCD and must have your feet washed by your assistant before every shoot but that washing your feet any other time is bad luck. Walk through your town barefoot for a week before the shoot.

This is EXACTLY what I mean about the Yanks having a different sense of humour.

I just don't get it!

I thought you were being deadly serious.

I feel deeply offended and insulted by your comments.
