Default some people...

has anyone with a " big expensive camera " found that some people disrespect you because of it ?

i noticed on Facebook that someone said they bought a fish eye lens. so i asked what it was, aperture and focal lens etc, and i got told to go away and leave them alone because "they" couldn't not afford gear as expensive as what i own... i take offence to that...

i can't find the exact quote as the post has been removed, but i do remember something along the lines of " i do not take my photography serious enough too need or want you advice " huh ? i don't understand that, since when would someone not want free advice for their beloved hobby.... i just don't get people sometimes.

Honestly - get over it. Those type of people exist in all walks of life. Insecure, solitary, whatever. They're out there and won't go away. Best thing to do - go away from them. Keep moving forward in a positive direction, don't let others hold you back.

Although, my gear is quite inexpensive, a D40 i got as a gift, and a D70, I bought for about $180.00, I get that sometimes. I guess it's all about perception.

I learned the hard way about Facebook recently. Quite a large proportion of people on my friends list seem to think that I am calling them out when I raise a question about anything they post. That goes for any subject. I was always told that people like to talk about themselves, and to ask questions so it at least seems like you are interested in their thoughts. It seems to be moving away from that though, and questions are perceived as attacks. That goes for any subject.

As for joining a forum, a place to ask questions, and to get and give advice, only to say that advice is not wanted or needed is rather odd if you ask me.

Someone who says that, without some more explanation, wouldn't be my friend in real life... not sure why I'd put up with them on Facebook. Life's too short.

Yet another reason not to use such SN sites.

I really pity today’s very young people. What a way to go through life with cyber snips.

In the real world I have gotten nothing but nice comments about my serious cameras.

yea. i know Social Networking Sites are sometimes a real time waster.. the main reason i still have a Facebook account is to keep up with my friends from school as i left in year 11 and i now live in another town and work. (all be it 55kms away). its good for that, being able to know who's doing what and that kinda thing, but it has it's downside, too easy to throw around abuse that otherwise wouldn't have been said.

Don't worry about it. They would sh*t if they saw mine. It's not the gear, but the eye....then again having the right equipment helps too.

When "dissed" like that, I tend to say "HHHMMM, your loss" and move on. Life is way too short to spend a second of it on bad attitude. I'll bet you are a great person with a lot to share with those who appreciate it!
