Default "Real Work" - Rant

Sorry about this girls and guys I just really need to get something off my chest. Yesterday I caught a work colleague/co-worker slagging me off behind my back! How do I deal with that?? Confront her, ignore her, call her a two-faced back stabbing bitch??. demand an apology??

The whole situation has gone completely out of hand here is the whole story:

I have to wear special non-slip shoes at work and just before the summer holidays I left them on the floor next to my locker then I had a few days off and when I came back they were missing and instead was a scabby, scruffy pair instead so I picked them up to show my colleagues in the belief that someone may have put mine on by mistake but all I got from 2 of my colleagues was "Oh there definately your shoes, they're yours! We all have ours on, they're yours" and tried to convince me that those tatty ones were mine. Credid me with some intelligence I do know there difference between what's mine and what isn't

I work with a Chinese lady who doesn't speak much English and I said to "X that I think Y may have them on" and then and then X yelled across the room so everyone could here "Oi Y! Rachel says you've got here shoes on!!" so I politely explained to Y can I just double check to make sure and she took them off to show my and they weren't mine after all so that's OK at least they were eliminated out of the enqury lol.

I searched high and low for my work shoes without success and under duress was forced to wear someone else's tatty ones.

Fast forward to Monday this week for the first day after the summer break and I turned up and low and behold my ORIGINAL shoes where in a really obvious place on top a cardboard box in the changing room and I know with out a doubt that they were not there before the holiday 100%

So I picked them up to show everyone like "Hey look guys my shoes have turned up hooray!" and didn't get an "Oh were sorry you were right" I got "Well you obvously didn't look hard enough!"

I'm really pissed off over it. I work with a lady who was on holiday at the start of "Shoegate" and didn't know any of this was going on and besides she wears totally different shoes so I knew she wasn't responsible but when I turned up early yesterday I saw X as clear as day telling this lady "And Rachel even blammed Y (the Chinese lady) for taking her shoes" which was not true at all I just asked politely if I could just check. How is that blaming or accusing??

I just walked in yesterday got on with my work and left.

I only work 2 hours a day. I don't need this SHIT.

Sometimes self-employment looks so much more appealing.

I've got to go to work at 11.30 but don't know how to deal with the backstabbing.

Hey ho!

Sounds more complicated than an episode of the bold I would definitely confront as that is my nature, its hard to be able to form an opinion because every work floor has its own little jungle and rules. About a week ago when I went to the bathroom someone put salt in my water bottle while I was gone. I emailed the whole team telling them its childish and if I find out who it was I would take matters to my own hand. I ensure that I put the management on the cc when mailing and they also gave a reply backing me up. Again hard to tell but really not cool good luck!

Oh Rachel,

I know you're bigger than this. Two hours a day at work, just get on with it.

You have two choices, accept that some people are plonkers and will never change or get another job. They are just having a lend of you and testing your reaction.

Say nothing just accept or look elsewhere.

Cheers,

John W

The more I deal with people, the more I love animals.
Sorry to hear that Rachel, but it will be everywhere you go. There will always be someone to keep the shit stirred. Everyone has at least one, so just get on with it, and tell them to get bent.

Yeah I know its only 2 hours but the atmosphere stinks

I'll post back later with an update.

I get the feeling that they are jealous of me because I am generally cheerful, smiley and get on with everyone whereas those 2 bitches at work are usually huddled in a corner somewhere gossiping.

I'll rise above it.

Like sands through an hour glass....

I just don't have time or energy to deal with long running cr@p. Maybe it is a guy thing, but I make sure confrontation is dealt with immediately so that everyone can work together and go home without baggage.
Same goes for home. Mrs know that the "NOTHING's the matter" answer gets a nothing response.

Sort it out - and get on with life, it really is as pathetic as you make it sound and you seem toknow that it is.

The more you let on that it bothers you, the more they will antagonize you.

Back now.

I do get on with my colleagues including"X" like she was very supportive and phoned me from home when my cat died and even gave my the phone number for the RSPCA and we buy each other Birthday and Christmas gifts and I really did think she was a friend but now I have seen her in her true colours and my trust has been damaged.

She is quite intimidating and creates a really bad vibe which spreads like a virus to all around when she is at work and it does grind you down but on the days she's not in everyone is really upbeat, happy, cheerful and it's great!

I'll see how things pan out tomorrow because I'm not sure if she's in then but I really want to get things sorted.

In some respects "X" is showing bullying tactics, like belittling in front of others, intimidation, victimization and trying to turn others against me but I won't tollerate that at all and bullying in any form is totally unacceptable.

My husband and I always get things out in the open too and we are quite happy to do that rather than frosty stares, slamming doors and acting like complete idiots like some married couples. We even argue in front of our children occasionally in the nicest possible way so that they learn how adults can sort out disputes in a sensible, respectful way.

@ Jim, I know it's pathetic childish and stupid it really is but when it you that's being at the receiving end of childish antics it does piss you off and it shouldn't be tolerated.
