Default Old cameras?

What have you done with your old digital cameras that you no longer use?
I have a Canon G3, it's a bulky point and shoot. I feel like no one would buy it, and I don't really have anyone significant to give it to.
But I'm not quite ready to donate it to my local Salvation Army.

Like all old technology, it becomes fairly redundant and useless.
I would give it to a little kid to play with and let them get their eye in. My 6yo son uses mine and now I trust him enough with the big rig (in moments of weakness)

If i recall correctly Canon has (or had) a trade up program where they gave you a discounted price for turning in your old Canon. I learned about right after getting rid of my old camera.

+1 for me. I love the idea of giving an old camera to a child. I did just that with my niece and we now have a great time going out on adventures together. But I also like the idea of converting it to an IR camera. There are websites that will show you how and the images can be quite spectacular.

I sold mine to my younger cousin who is really interested in photography. It was just a Canon S2 IS but it has been great for him. He got the experience of saving up the money to buy it from me and he shares photos with me whenever I see him. It's a nice little bond we've got going!

Canon Loyalty Program. That's where my XT went. It's not a straightforward trade-up--the camera is supposed to be broken, although some folks have reported that simply saying it didn't work was enough. They've also simplified their trade-in policy recently. It used to be that you only qualified for dSLRs if you traded in a dSLR, and only a G-series or S-series if you traded in a G-series or S-series. But right now, it's apparently any Canon camera qualifies for any camera they're offering in the CLP, so you could trade in a busted powershot for a discount on a 5DMkII.

What's on offer and at what price changes. But they're always refurbs with only a 90-day warranty. I traded in my broken XT and paid $630 to get a refurbished 50D body. I thinkt he price has gone up on the 50D since then. What's available does change, so you have to call to find out what's on offer. Usually it follows whatever Canon offers in their online store as a refurb, but with an additional discount. The XS, 50D, 7D, and 5DMkII are all on the list right now. No idea if the SX120IS, G11, and S90 (around a $250 pricepoint) are still on it, but they were at one point.
