Default Is it OK to print Tips, Tutorials or threads?

Hi Guys,

I was just reading a thread which directed me to another thread with a tutorial someone had written. The first reply was another tutorial written by another member here but at the bottom he had put a copyright notice.

Now as I have the memory span of a goldfish if I only read something once, it is advantageous for me to print things like this off and keep in a folder to re-read and digest properly at my leisure.

Am I breaking copyright law? Is it bad etiquette? Or as it has been put out there on the web is it OK?
I will stress that it is for my personal use only and I have no intention of republishing it or anything else.

TIA.

Printing it out for your own reference is little different than adding a bookmark to it in your browser.

How is printing different from making it available offline or saving the page in another format for future reference?

I am reasonably sure that it is no different to cutting out info from magazines to keep in a reference file. (be it photography or cooking recipes)

Printing for your own reference? I see no problem. Copying and pasting it somewhere else without the copyright notice and/or author's name? That's a problem.

Just my humble $.02, anyway.

Actually, even WITH the copyright notice and author's name, this would be wrong.

Just like leaving a © watermark on a photo doesn't make it Okay to post elsewhere without the photographer's permission.

That's kinda what I meant, didn't phrase it clearly enough. Not enough coffee.

LOL you and my son are two peas in a pod. I can't stand Mountain Dew. Coke's good for a minor caffeine boost, though. Just make sure it's not Diet Coke, that's some nasty shiznit.

Strictly speaking, of the original source is under a creative commons license then that actually is all that's necessary (name, trackback link).

Oh, and Redbull FTW.
