Hi there,
With multiple social media sites, I was wondering what kind of pics people were posting on their various locations. For example... Your website: Only the best of your portfolio (or your portfolio itself) Your blog: Maybe something relevant to your blog post (if you're posting text), or maybe some behind-the-scenes shots But what about your photography Facebook page? What about Flickr? Smugmug? What kind of photos do you upload to these sites, and what DON'T you upload there? What overlaps and what don't? Looking forward to your responses! ![]() JIMMY |

I usually put 3-8 selects from a given shoot on Flickr.
I might tweet one from the set, but mostly I use twitpics for illustrating a tweet, or to post something unique/funny (like me in a bow tie shooting commencement).

I use my FB page to promote a little bit, but watermark the heck out ofthem, put down to 100/150dpi .. and mostly just teasers.
on my smugmug, the same thing, but I am a "pro" level on there so right click is disabled, but i still only upload watermarked images for flickr... for a long time it was just putting anything up, then got serious, and now watermarking them too and just trying to keep an eye on...

Not bad, but DPI is totally meaningless when putting files up for web viewing. What matters is total pixel dimensions.
A file that is 3000 pixels long at 100 DPI and one that is 3000 pixels long at 300 DPI are both the same exact file. If left at 100 DPI, the first file will print to 30 inches while if using 300 DPI it will print to 10 inches. |

Do as you wish, but be aware of the rights clauses/ "rights grab". Digital Photo Pro had a good article on it last issue...
