Default light tent pictures have brownish tint background

I built a light tent using a box with squares cut out of the sides and top and tracing paper taped over the cutouts.. I'm using 100 flourescent bulbs on each side of the box and using a white poster board as the backdrop. I've seen around the web on these home-made boxes and the pictures taken with it and they always look pretty good.

I'm using a Fuji J38 camera for this.

The pictures come out pretty good except that instead of a white surrounding area it always comes out a brownish tint, almost sepia-like.

I tried messing around with the camera settings, exposure to +2 and that seems to get the whiteness around my subjects but it's almost too bright now.

Any suggestions on how to correct this?

Sounds like the WB (white balance) on your camera is off. Have you tried to set it? Do you have it on Auto White Balance?

Hope that helps...

What color is the inside of your box? If you used a brown box I believe you need to completely cover the inside of the box with the white tissue paper. The DIY light tents I have seen on line are made from white card board boxes.
