Hello,
I am new to taking photos and have a Nikon D40 with the af-s 18-55mm lens. I am mostly taking pictures of my son/family and I am completely ignorant about pretty much everything. So, does anyone have any good recommendations to get started? I have done a lot of experimentation with my camera but ignorant about what shutter speed, iso, etc. |

First thing, don't expect to be spoon fed.
Second thing, you are not unique, there are people that have been in the exact same situation as you currently are. They have had the exact same questions, they have asked them, the questions have been answered already, go look. Thirdly, welcome, if you have any questions you CAN'T find answers to then you will find we are most willing to help.

DPS has helped me out so much! Continue to read posts.
A book that helped me out also is Bryan Peterson's Understanding Exposure... Check it out...
