Unhappy So, August was spectacularly craptastic for me.

Just a vent, if any of my DPS friends care to read....a fairly good explanation as to why I've been more or less MIA recently except for popping in now and then.

August has SUCKED. My dad in law (much more of a 2nd dad to me than an "in-law") had open heart surgery in July. He had a few ups and downs, but was scheduled to come home from the nursing/rehab center on Friday, August 20th, in time to be able to attend my niece's wedding on the 21st. He took a sudden turn for the worse, and ended up back in the hospital. They thought they had his problems under control but out of nowhere on the 22nd he threw a pulmonary embolism, stopped breathing, and his heart stopped. They tried to resusitate for quite some time but he didn't make it. The memorial is tomorrow and it's gonna be a rough one. I wrote a little tribute speech that I intend to read and I'm just hoping I can do it without dissolving into a blubbering mess.

To add insult to injury, at the wedding I hurt my knee dancing. What I though was a minor twist that would heal on its own blew out on me today and I spent my afternoon in the emergency room. I'm now the proud owner of a torn ligament and a minor fracture. Gee my knee brace is so fashionable. I'm thinking about buying a Bedazzler and blinging it out. Thank goodness for painkillers, though....

And hmmm, since they say bad things come in threes, here's another one. Found out my cat has thyroid problems, has to have sub-q fluids every other day (we've been there and done the fluids with another cat we had), medication every day, and I'm sure you can imagine the vet bills rolling on in.

September better be one hell of a good month to make up for all this crap, lol!

Enough of my vent....just feels kinda good to get it off my chest. If you've made it this far, thanks for listening.

Sorry you had such a bad month and sorry for your father in law. Thank God I've never had any problems with my knees, yet, it wouldn't be the best thing for my hiking tours.

P.S. MIA? Is that for Missing in action?

Sorry to hear of the loss of you Father in Law, my heart felt condolences go out to you and your family.

I hope your knee improves quickly, I guess you won't be dancing for a while.

I didn't even know cats could get thyroid problems or what sub q liquids are but I hope that turns out OK as well.

As you say, now that you've had your "3" everything should be on the up. Happy September.

I feel your pain and im sorry to hear of your loss. I just recently lost both granfathers on the same day, for the same reason, ( massive heart attacks) within hours of eachother. Went to two funerals in two days, then came home and had to prepare to move from tennessee to texas. I cant say that my month has been quite like yours tho. I'll wake you up when September comes :P ( had to throw a lil Green Day in there) hope its a better month for you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your terrible month. So sad. A friend of mine's husband died suddenly on 17 August of a heart attack leaving 2 children age 9 and 11 (roughly the same age as mine).

Sending you and your family prayers and wishing your knee a speedy recovery.
