Shoot RAW, always. You'll have way more control over your image when in post...

Started in with jpeg, then switched over to RAW, once camera had the ability. I do agree you have a more control over your image. If you are from the school of straight out of the camera, no post work, than it wouldn't matter. I must say I do like the option though.

Count me in the RAW column. I used to shoot JPG's years ago but made the switch because of the flexibility it gave. It's a digital negative right out of the camera whereas a JPG has been slightly "tampered" with. Ultimately it is your choice though.
I use and would highly recommend Lightroom for RAW processing. Most cameras that shoot in RAW format also come with their own editor but Lightroom takes it to the highest level. On top of working with lossless format files for all modifications, it also is a database photo organizer as well as a digital darkroom tool of high quality that is very easy to use. Hope that helps!

Knowing what operating system your computer uses would help.

I tend to shoot in RAW and I use photoshop elements to edit my pictures in. Shooting in RAW allows you in photoshop elements to do a lot more editing to the image than you'd be able to if you shot in JPEG. When you've edited your image and go to save it, it normally automatically saves it as a JPEG
