Default watermarking in GIMP?

Is there a way to watermark images in GIMP like you would in Photoshop?

I haven't used Photoshop but watermarking is simple in GIMP. Simply put a text layer over your image, write what you want to & then set its opacity as per your preference.

There is a script for it, if you are so inclined. You will need to tweak the script to your taste though.
Here is a link to the script. TD-e - Watermark it

And Jennifer over at iffles.com, does a pretty good job of explaining how to tweak it. Here is the link for that. Adding a Watermark in Gimp (via a Script) | iffles.com

You can make the watermark in openoffice as you like it. Font, colour etc, save it as a txt doc. When you select to make a text layer, the option to load from file comes up and you simply choose to open the open office doc you made. Then set transparency, size whatever and off you go.
