Maybe I need to get over to Craiglist and set up shop. I specialize in making photographs look like snapshots and my ability to do it repeatedly is uncanny.

I too can take photos that:
  1. Cut off the wingtips of butterfly's
  2. Be really washed out and grey
  3. Have a pretty pretty sparkly effect added.
  4. Have a bright washed out area and the subject in darkness.

Maybe I am a pro too and just didn't know it?

Professional may have been pushing it just a little, yea? It's a bit sad, really.

Good lord yes, I just did! You know, as funny as this is, it also kinda irritates me. I have been seeing a lot of this lately. People go out, take some really crappy to moderately okay photos, their mother and best friend tells the person that they are wonderful so NOW they think they are a pro.
I just got a invitation to "like" a local photographer page on facebook yesterday. Oh my heavens, they were such terrible photos that I was embarrassed (for the photographer) to even look at them.
And here I am, studying and reading everything that I can get my hands on. Practicing every suggestion that I come across. Hoping that I can get there in a few years. Well, heck? Why bother? Why not just throw myself out there right now with my mediocre knowledge and skill? Seems like that is the thing to do.
Sorry. Vent over.

Nicole lol! I so agree with what you said. You know what. My husband made me a site (template site) with all my best shots and everyone where he works thought it was brilliant but *I* was not happy with it because I felt my photos weren't "professional" enough so I got him to take if off the 'net but lol if I wish it was still on now that I've seen THAT site.

I'm like you reading, reading, reading and practicing, practicing and practicing. It's doing my husband's head in cos he thinks that reading is a very anti-social thing to do at the best of times.

I've given myself a goal of 6 years by that time "HOPEFULLY" I would have achieved something by then.
