Default Your web hosting provider?

I apologize for the possible off-topic. Guys, could you tell me which web hosting company you are using at the moment? I have a problem because my current web hosting company hostrator.com is kicking me off. They say that our website is using too many server resources. But our website only gets 300 visitors per day..

Anyway, what would be your recommendations? Are you happy with your web hosting providers?

I am checking Hosting24.com - First Class Web Hosting Services at the moment, but is it real that they can provide unlimited disk space?
I have contacted them and they say something like "1000GB disk drive costs only $30 per month, so if some day we will start running out of disk space we will simply add a new 1000GB drive so can continue uploading..".

What do you think about it? Any ideas and web hosting company name suggestions are much appreciated.

If you're using too many resources with only 300 visitors a day, then you've got a bigger problem, and moving to a new host won't fix it.

Most hosting companies will have a problem with sites that use too many resources - it causes too many problems for all the other sites on the same server. Usually, a hosting company will put hundreds or more websites on a single server, so if a single website, for example, is taking up 25% of the resources on a server with 1000 other sites, you can see how that would be a problem, yes?

You need to get some help figuring out what's going on - scripts running in the background? Cron jobs that never finish? Something's going on, and it needs to be fixed.

Sorry, don't have a hosting company to recommend - we use a virtual private server, and that's way overkill for a single website.

The husband (certified geek) reminds me that you'll want to check out Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet for information on the various hosting sites out there.

And yes, a host can offer unlimited storage. They're betting on the fact that most websites use up less than a Gig of space.

That's true. I used to work for an ISP and we counted on people not using near what we promised them. Nine times out of ten, they didn't...

There is a huge difference between Disc Space (storage), Bandwidth (traffic), and Server Resources.

For photographers, some server resource hogs are:

Pages with a lot of thumbnails: They generate each time a page is loaded and can bog down the server.

Dynamic watermarking, especially if those 300 visits come all at once like right after a new gallery opens from an event.

Web hosts have different, and often secret, limits on allowable server resources. Lunarpages, for example, sets a limit (that is almost impossible to find in writing) of 1% although they promise unlimited storage and bandwidth.

Another "Gothca" is the 50k file limit. That means, I can have a 1TB file on my website if I want, but if I have more than 50k files, regardless of how much total space they take up (or don't take up) the host can shut me down.

For straight honest talk about what to expect, what the problems might be with your site, and much more, I recommend Dave at Saratoga Hosting. I moved there after Lunarpages pulled the plug on my site for server resource issues.

I recommend asking Hostgator exactly what resource limit you are up against and then work from there. I have been with them for several years and they are always responsive to questions like this. It could be a poorly coded script, bad plugin, etc (thumbnail generation, cronjobs, etc like mentioned above).

This will be about processor/RAM over utilization more so than disk space. You have a hard cap on how much disk space you can use and they don't care and/or can't penalize you for using all of it, you have a quota. But if you move as is to a new host, then you are likely to carry the issue forward with you.
