Default I went to the Meet-up tonight

I went to a Studio and Portrait Photography meet-up tonight and just wanted to tell you about it.
I give you the good parts first, then the bad.

The Good
1. Everyone was super nice. It was small group, 7 people including me. I learned a lot!
2. There were two pro photographers there, as in they make their living with photography. I sat with the two of them for a long time while other people were shooting and talked about stuff. They answered my endless questions with enthusiasm. I had brought some prints and they critiqued them and gave me suggestions for improvement.

The Bad
1. My camera wouldn't sync with the studio lights so I didn't get to take hardly any photos. The organizer let me use her camera briefly, but I was really nervous because it was super fancy. I took maybe 10 photos. She said she is going to email them to me. Apparently, the cord from the lights wouldn't fit into my camera, but they did say there is some kind of wireless device that I can buy that will make it work. If anyone knows what that is, I would greatly appreciate any information on that. I have a Canon T1i. Even if you can tell me what the device is called so I can google it. They said, but I forgot already and I didn't write it down.
2. We hit a deer on the way home. So that sucked really bad. I don't think there is too much damage, but it is dark out right now. We'll see in the morning.

Glad you got to network with others. Next time it'll be better. Sorry about the deer - just be glad you weren't hurt!

OMG, I started googling and I am completely overwhelmed. I guess if I can't figure it out, then I need to start a new topic in the gear area so someone can baby talk me through deciding what I need.

Call the alien bee folks, they will help you - they are super nice and will take the time to explain things if you have questions.

@ Cypher- he went with me, met everyone, stayed for about 10 minutes, got bored, left, I don't know what all he did for two hours. LOL.
@CheaperKings-yeah, I plan to go back. It is only once a month so it is not too much of a commitment. I just have to figure out the wireless thing and buy one.
@mad_editor and IntenseMagic-Thanks so much! It was fun!

About the deer, I just went out and checked the car since it is now daylight. Someone in front of us hit it first, so it was already on the ground when we hit it. It went under the car between the tires. There is fur and meat EVERYWHERE. And OMG, the car stinks to high heavens. It gagged me. I have never smelled anything so gross in my life. Other than that, it appears to be okay. Just needs a really good pressure washing.
