Default Haha like a personal ad..I'm looking for...

a professional, in business, who is willing to let me email them from time to time for information about getting into business, cameras, etc. I am completely new to photography, but I know that it's the one form of art I'm pretty good at.
After 12 years of being a chef, I have quit and no desire to get back into that business-it's not my passion and I'm trying to figure out what is. Now, you may think since I didn't say photography was my passion, realize I just need a little time to really get into it to figure out if it is or not. I'm willing to take classes or go to school for it but I need advice about it and along the way to make sure I'm not spinning my wheels.
I do realize what a great resource this website and the forums are but I don't always have the time to scroll and click through tons of threads to get an answer. I'm interested in event photography, like concerts and openings, but I'd be fine with getting into wedding/celebration/portrait as well.
I currently don't have a great camera(a nikon L100-but when I bought that, it was before my career change idea) so I'm saving up for a better, possibly used camera and equipment to get myself started.
ANYHOW, if there is anyone out there who is willing to be my part time e-mentor, please let me know via private message or email me jexca.s@gmail.com.
I really appreciate anyone who takes the time out of their busy schedule to help me out, I realize that dealing with someone who doesn't have much experience may be difficult/irritating, I just want to learn from someone who is out there doing that not someone who sits behind a desk saying you can do it.

I'm sorry it was TL and you DR, due to lack of paragraphs. I have since fixed it, but it was important(to me) that I put most of the info that was relevant to my situation so I may find someone who doesn't mind being helpful.
Once again, I am sorry.

cool,

the only way to improve is to read the techniques, then put them into practice.
heres a link to some helpful stuff.

if you have specific questions, just start a thread in the appropriate areas and you'll get a ton of helpful responses.

all the best with it
