Default My Husband Made me a website

Digital Artistry by Nicole

Okay, it is still a work in progress. We haven't done any of the text pages yet, so don't be startled by the jibberish. And we need to figure out what is up with the homepage and why the pics look weird there.
But I do have pics in most the galleries.
I would love to hear what you think of it.
This is just for fun right now and to have a place to put all of the photos that I really like.

Photos are stunning! And the layout looks really nice. I love the camera in the top corner.

Only issue I have with it (and it could be me being stupid), but I would like a button to turn the music off.

As everyone else has said your photos are excellent and I really like the design of your site. The two things I noticed that you may wish to change are to have the music disabled by default, many people will find it annoying and may browse away without even looking at your photos and also to disable the flickering at the top of the page, it is a little annoying but that's just me . All in all a great site, keep up the awesome work!

I agree with both points.

Oh wow, I didn't even notice that flickering, but now that you point it out, yeah, that is way annoying. You can turn the sound off at the bottom, do you think that is not enough? I should just not have it come on at all?

As stated already by a few others, get rid of the sound ASAP! People do not want to be listening to music or forget that they have their speakers on and then all of a sudden visit your site and within the first second they already hate it.

It looks like a standard Flash template to me so it isn't really anything exciting. The major downside is the fact that mobile phones can't see Flash so anybody trying to visit your site on a phone gets a black page with no photos listed anywhere. Sure you don't have to support mobile phones but more and more people are browsing the internet these days on their phones so why leave them out?

Oh and the Flash template doesn't allow for very much SEO (Search Engine Optimization) meaning people will have a hard time finding your site in Google/Yahoo/Bing/etc. Again, maybe not something important to you but something to think about.

Great pictures though as everybody else stated

I agree with the others - get rid of the sound. I almost always will close the site immediately without further ado unless there's something extremely important on the website. It's annoying. Very very annoying. Even more so if I'm already playing music on my computer. Or if the speakers are on loud and the sound blares through. Really. Just get rid of it.

If you must have music, have it disabled, but put a play button near the top of the page so people can choose to turn it on.

Why include the words "amateur" - why not exclude the line or just say photographer? You look as though you are getting set to charge people.
