Question Need some fast help!!!!!!

Need to purchase either a Compact Flash OR SD card OR both....

Canon 1ds Mark III with external power supply

This camera can accept 1CF and 1SD card. We're taking continuous pictures for 5-6 hours (kind of a timelapse) and need LOTS of card space but cannot connect to a laptop.

I read in the manual that the camera can accept both cards at once...but the question is...

If both cards are in the camera, once the 1st card is full...does the recording go directly to the second card? I couldn't find the answer to that in the manual..

According to a review I found using Google:

Quote:
You can choose to (i) record to one card then switch to the other when the first is full, (ii) Record to both cards simultaneously or (ii) set the recording size / quality separately for each card. This final option means you can put JPEG on one card, RAW on the other (or record a large and small JPEG simultaneously) for example. Very useful.
I presume this is controlled somewhere in the camera's menu.

Default is the switch automatic?

The camera setup will be left alone for hours. Will the camera automatically switch cards? Or will it pause recording to prompt the user to select "OK to switch" or something like that...

It will do it automatically, but you need to set it to 'Auto switch media' in the 'Record Func' menu.

Please refer to page 74 of your manual for further information.

(Seriously all this is in the manual, I've just looked it up http://www.google.co.uk/search?rlz=1...s+mkIII+manual)
