Default Where to start ??

Hi

I'm having a hard time when I take a picture where to start or what do I do next.
It seems like there's so much to change, WB, exp. comp, aperture, shutter, flash, focus point. I get very overwhelmed !!

Help !!

Thanks

there are a million answers to that question lol. The way I do it ( and believe me, I'm no pro :P) is to just experiment. Shoot, shoot shoot.. something that you find interesting or that catches your eye in some way, something you want to remember.. anything and everything if you are like me lol. Then go out of auto mode and adjust one setting or another play around and see how changing this effects that and so on and so forth. I found that the easiest way for me to learn because once i start with triangles and numbers and all of that I just confuse myself haha. but at least with me, pretty quickly I got a basic understanding of what works when just by trial and error, and lots of it lol

I`m also still learning and I have the exact same problem. I think I`m so worried about getting the right spot that I forget about everything else. :-D

In order to understand all the functions of a camera that are associated with shutter speed, aperture, depth of field, have you thought about taking a class at the local community college, if not, at least go to the local library and check out photographic books.

You don't HAVE to change those things. White balance, for instance, never changes for me: I find the Auto to be quite accurate and always shoot/edit in RAW, so I can change that after the fact, if I wanted. Exposure compensation is a case-by-case basis, and only really affects things in the P, S and A modes. Aperture and shutterspeed (as well as ISO) dont change that often (if anything I change shutter speed while keeping aperture and ISO stable). Flash only comes into play if you're using flash and the focus point on my camera basically never changes unless im doing something drastically different.

Find a setup you like for certain settings (WB, exp comp, focus point) and go from there.
