Free Goodies?

Anyone know of a good way to get free goodies from camera companies? I've met some people who say that introducing themselves years ago to Canon got them some free light meters, flashes, memory cards and other products just at random over the years.

I don't know about free camera stuff, but I know how to get other free stuff. I would suggest trying to get a spot writing a blog for a local newspaper, or getting on with a e-magazine, or getting on as a contributer on one of the really popular photo blogs. Then approach the companies and say "I represent XYZ and I would love to review your product in writing on our website, blog, etc"
I imagine that this approach would work with any product. I write and create for an e-mag (different subject matter) but I have gotten endless free stuff because of them. All I have to do is use the product, and write a review. They are getting some exposure, you get the keep the product. Usually a win/win situation.
