Default Mobile Phone Access to Forums

I belong to a few forum communities that are running the Tapatalk plugin/addon for Vbulletin. It allows for iPhone, Android, Blackberry access to the forums from the app opposed to a mobile web browser.

Not sure if this idea has been considered before or not, but here is the link:

Tapatalk - Forum App on the iPhone, Android, Nokia, and BlackBerry for vBulletin, phpBB, IPBoard, and SMF

This would be really nice but I don't want to pay 3 dollars to have the ability to respond to or create a post. I'll stick to the mobile broswer, not like it's that much more difficult to browse the forum using the built in browser, at least on an android device. I usually use the speech to text feature when typing out something long then going in and making any minor corrections needed.

They should really offer a time limited trial that offerers responding to messages.

For the amount of time I spend on this site and other forums from my iPhone, the $3 investment would be well spent.

The free version will allow you to read-only access but no replies.

If I'm the only one interested, then using the mobile browser is more than adequate. But if a large enough group were interested then perhaps we could recommend that it is looked into.

Thanks!

If your on an android device you can change the browsers UA string to that of a desktop browser and browse the full site. its not much different typing with a touch screen keyboard.

In case anyone is wondering how you have to go into the search bar in your android browser and type about:debug and then press go. Once you have done that go into settings for the browser and you should now have extra options near the bottom is the UA string changing this to desktop will display full websites..... how ever thats a lot more data it will download so make sure you use it on wifi lol not your 3G data

I think there is no issue you access forum through cell phone. It is more cheap and ease way to approach to the forum if you are out of office or home.

It would be a huge timesaver for iPhone owners who are constantly on the move and the plugin for Tapatalk is free for Forum owners.

I don't even bother visiting DPS from my iphone because navigating the forums is in a PITA. This plugin sounds like a great solution, but even just a mobile stylesheet would be an excellent way to increase traffic from mobile users.

I use Taptalk for a few forums, I like it but I do wonder with the amount of content on the DPS how it would work.

Holy crap, how addicted do you have to be to access this forum using your mobile? I thought it would just be the OP but all the responses left me speechless.
