Smile Digital photo Software to manage files

Hi

I once had a copy of Canon Zoom browser software and found it very
easy to use by sorting photos by the date taken. What recent software could anyone reccomend that makes manging thousands of pictures easy and a pleasure to do! Windows is hopeless and drives me nuts. Any suggestions would be welcome. I prefer to keep them on my PC not on the net and back them up to external drives and CDs.

I await your collective knowledge and wisdom!

Thanks Jason

I really want ACDSee for this exact purpose. I hear that it is wonderful. I'd be curious to hear if anyone here uses that program and what they think of it.

+1 more for Lightroom.

That's it's main purpose in life, to be a database for photo's. It has the added bonus of being a great tool for the initial post production as well.

If you shoot with Canon, you can still use Zoom browser as long as you have the disks that came with the camera.

I personally use Lightroom for that function in addition to the editing that can be done.

The latest version of ACDSee Pro is basically dark grey text on black. Despite a LOT of people complaining about the lack of ability to change the colour scheme, ACDSee hasn't changed it and has refused to change it. I can't read anything, I can't work with it, so I deleted it. Used to be good. Not so much anymore just because of the readability issues.

For me, Lightroom.

I'm pretty sure you can download Canon's Zoombrowser from their website too..

That said, I'm a Lightroom convert..
