Default 7 jobs to skip college for

Below is the link to a Yahoo! story post naming 7 jobs with good pay that you don't need to go to college for.
Number 1 is being a freelance photographer. Apparently u don't need to no how to spel or use proper graham-er. Or how to run a busine$$ and do accounting either. That must be why us grads have trouble paying bills sometimes. College screwed us up.
Without any formal education one can make a median annual salery of $47,800 by just clicking the shutter. Of course the disclaimer at the bottom says the money is based on 5-8 years experience, bonuses, commissions and profit sharing. Since when does a one-person business pay out perks? Who does one negotiate that with?
But if you want to make a lot more money -- $79,000+ -- just sign up to be a nuclear power reactor operator. Again, no education necessary.
Or be an air traffic controller for $60,000+ where you "might" have to monitor and direct aircraft on the ground, taking off and landing.

There are TONS of jobs that pay exceedingly well and dont need anything higher than a GED. Hell, working on a vehicle assembly line, assuming you can get a job that's half-way reliable, pays considerably well because it's all unionized.

Not so much anymore. New GM workers start at $14/hour, while current workers doing the same jobs keep on making twice as much. I imagine that makes for some interesting conversations on the assembly line.

New employees earning less than experienced ones? That sounds fairly reasonable to me. I used to work for the British part of a large European aircraft manufacturer - at least half of us were employed through a recruitment agency and were told year after year that the company wouldn't approve the agency increasing our hourly rate, despite the fact that every time they recruited a new (inexperienced) colleague in our team, they were paid at a higher rate, because "...That's the going rate for a logistics controller now..."

And before anybody suggests it, if we wanted to leave and be re-employed to get a version of a pay-rise, we had to leave a 6-month gap, which would mean losing our continuity of service and the (very sparse) perks that went along with it.

I know people who went to college and still can't do the job they were trained for. LOL

Isn't that the truth. It's the same with Congress, the house and present administration. We're screwed.

But, Jim, they are doing their jobs - making sure the rich get an ever-expanding slice of the national income.
