Not really.

I've had the car owner shop locations for me plenty of times. Who knows the town better than him? Especially if I've never been there before and traveling 200 miles to get there... it's just not practical. A simple 5 minute conversation about what I want from the shoot usually solves it quickly.

That's hilarious and likely too often true to life.

yeah, as an example this saturday i'm going to a park scouted by the client.. i'm not driving 1 hour each way to look at some trees.

its not uncommon to have them choose a location based on "personal reasons"

Precisely... besides, I have veto power over the locations

I have them choose 3 or 4 locations... i get there, we go look at them and then I decide on one or two.

Let's see.

It is 10am, it is going to take an hour or two to clean the car, 2 hrs to drive to the location and he has to leave at 1pm.

All together now: Let's do the time warp again!

I've had weddings go the same way.
