Seems to me, Casio had something out a couple years ago that would do 40fps. Can't remember what it was called, though. But, it shouldn't cost all that much...I wouldn't imagine anyway...

40FPS usually means super low res: that's crazy quick, and pretty useless.
Honestly, unless you're doing anything specific, you don't need anything more than 4fps.

So they're putting cameras in calculators now?

There's camera's in everything nowadays. I was at some event one time and there was this couple standing behind me and the lady said "That's pretty cool. If I had my phone, I'd take a picture of that."

Thanx to all of you. I've heard the casio actually does slightly less than 40fps, and it surely looses quality, but you can select much fewer fps to help that problem. 5, 10, 15, 20, etc.
I agree that 4 to 8 fps is probably plenty to get a rookie like me started. I will take a look at the Sony Alpha 450. Thanx. I just discovered this board and will learn some good stuff I'm sure. I live in Montana and drive a taxi so I have lots of photo ops.

What could you possibly need that high a framerate for?

Probably to catch some of the people I know actually working?
