My First Photo Contest!

Last summer, where I live, the city of Neenah conducted it's first city-wide photography contest that was open to all people of all ages, from all over the city - whether professional or novice. This was to sponser their new "Playful City USA" campaign.

The rules stated you could submit two photos, but you must have taken them at a local area city of Neenah park. The photos are supposed to represent Neenah as a "playful city".

While I don't feel I'm nearly good enough to submit any of my material to contests I did so on the insistence of a friend of mine.

Unbelievably, out of hundreds of entries BOTH of my photos won! I took first place and a third place. Not only that, but one of my pictures (with the flags) is now being used in city-wide promotional literature, brochures, advertising, and more so the exposure has been great.

I've been asked to participate in their second annual contest this summer now.

Congratulations! Both photos are great and obviously deserving winners. I imagine it's a nice feel of accomplishment.
