Default Jeebus!

Ok so on another forum i use one of the lovely ladies has just got married. She's just stuck up this post:

Does anyone know how to convert raw files to JPEG and preferably for free? ive googled and downloaded 2 things but they only let you do so many and one by one (free trials) im trying to get wedding pics the card onto pc but comp wont recognise raw files

Turns out that the wedding photographer hasn't a clue how to get the files off the memory card let alone get them edited up and presented to her and has just handed over the memory cards to her to work it out for herself.

Im trying not to get ranty at her - because it's not her fault - but still...OMG!!!

Yeah there is which has just been posted.

Turns out the photographer wanted to just do them 30 prints without the couple having any say in what pictures were chosen and was then going to walk away as job done but the bride was spitting at the appalling quality of the images and how over processed they were so asked for the originals to be put onto disc so she could have a look.

Turns out the photog just handed over 8gb worth of memory cards and left her to it under the impression the photographer couldn't convert and transfer to disc.

What a thing to do to someone!!!!

Wow, I'm no professional but that is outrages, unfortunately we are only hearing one side of the story and I expect the other one to be 'she wanted it done for $20 and a beer ticket at the reception' I don't know but it sounds like she didn't do a huge amount of research on the person/discuss what each party expected/offered in the contract discussion, I still feel bad for her but it could be a case of she got what she paid for.

Aye it's a wedding on a budget but even so she paid this person what they asked and they failed to deliver what they promised.

Well I'm not defending him but;

Like I say we are only hearing one side of the story so to jump all over him and condemn his work isn't really fair, sure he is no doubt an asshole, I don't argue that his actions were not very professional at all, if it were me I would have made a greater effort to work with her though how far that would go is questionable, alot of people now a days want somehting for nothing.

I guess all I'm saying is that unless we know what the deal was before hand from both of them and the result we can't condemn either of them.

yeah, he's a jackass

unless.. they paid the asking price and knew before the wedding that this is how it was going to be done, and that the photog was only going to deliver 30 prints.

If they agreed, paid, and then tried to change her mind after the wedding, i have no sympathy.

Thats what I'm saying, I'm not saying they did but maybe they did get what they paid for, we've all heard the stories of people expecting a 16x20 with a poloroid...

Ugh. Just send her a link to the LR3 free trial.

Or explain to her that her best option is to find someone with the skills to rescue whatever can be rescued, but that those skills don't come free.

True'dat. I could edit and convert 30 files in a day and send them back but, I don't come free. In fact, I'm no where NEAR free...
