FastPictureViewer free-to-try from CNet.
Nikon is truly slacking when it comes to a windows 64bit codec to view Nikon Raw (NEF) files with windows. The above link will allow you to get Fast Picture Viewer 64bit for free(to try). Install it and click activate and you are all set. Windows picture viewer will now recognize all your NEF (and all other RAW) files. Not to mention all your RAW thumbnails will now show your image as well. Hope others find this as useful as I do. Twin

Thank you Milosh. I guess I was so excited finding this link on a blog I didn't stop to check the fine print. There was nothing mentioned during install or activation stating it was trial. Even going to FPV's site I can't find out how long the trial version is. However, for now everything is running smoothly and if/when the trial period ends I most likely won't purchase the software but I'm sure I'll pay for the Codec pack ($9.99) just to be able to see my images as Thumbs to make my sorting/deleting of my photos easier.

Yeah, I think that page also says that there is no reduced functionality during the trial period.
