A section where you had to take on an assignment and work on improving your "shot" over time, or actually take suggestions and implement the changes and resubmit the shot...
No "competition", no "grades", just WORK towards improvement.... I get really tired of giving the "same advice" to different people to never see it implemented... I REALLY appreciate those who take advice (mine or others) and make the effort to try it... (you always decide for yourself, it's your art) I know we have enough members here who would be willing to, and are qualified to, give guidance for improvement to the average member/visitor...and I personally would prefer to participate in an area where I don't feel like I'm just wasting my breath/time a lot of the time... The fact that sys is so overwhelming here makes me question the validity of the idea....But I am certain that there are those who really do want to improve their work and not just share...

I would like this. A weekly or bi-weekly lesson pertaining to improving technique, composition or post processing. I would participate in this provided that I have the necessary equipment for the assignment. So when do we start?

If I get you right, (in that you mean that I would post a shot for critique, people would give advise then I would go and restage the shot and post the new version (presumably in the same thread) to see if I have managed to follow the instructions and have made an improvement then repeat adnauseum(sp?) until perfection is achieved) what a fantastic idea!
I'm in, when can we start?

so you mean a hybrid between the critique and assignment section? how do you envision this working when it comes to who gives advice vs who takes it? or is it more like a general free-for-all in terms of who participates in whatever role? i dont follow the assignment pages simply because it feels like a glorified SYS. i'm not being facetious, i just think its a curious idea.

I'd be interested depending on the details. An open free for all not so much though. Maybe something could be set up for smaller groups working together?
Will look forward to seeing how this pans out - always thought it was funny that it's Digital Photography School, but not really any classes. I never use sys & have really not posted much at all over the last year or so because the site just got so big & I lost a bit of interest in the assignments as there are just so many entries I don't even have time to look at them. I'm trying to get back into it again recently by picking & choosing what I look at but something like this would be great inspiration.

Just start a thread and roll with it - see how it goes.
Maybe do it in the tutes section?
