Default Good photography stores in New York

Hi all,

I'll be travelling to New York a couple of weeks from now and i'm looking to buy a Canon 15-85mm lens and also trade-in my current 18-55mm kit lens. Can anyone recommend a good store to do this?

Thanks,
Hugo

Try B&H or Adorama.

Probably not worth trading in the kit lens... it is worth more as a spare than they will ever give you for it.

I remember one member called B&H the "Willy Wonka of camera stores". LOL!

I only live an hour's train ride away from NYC and I don't DARE go to B&H. I'd come out flat broke.

B&H as said above, is your first choice.
I've been to NYC couple of times and every time I went to B&H and I never left without buying something... Only thing to keep in mind, make sure they have what you want in store. Last year around this time I wanted to by a 135mm canon and it was nowhere to be found on the entire east coast. Left for Brazil without the lens and havn't had a chance to get it ever since...
I think around 32nd street there are some more professional stores if I am not mistaken.

Do not buy close to the touristic spots, the stores are overpriced, shitty service and usually have nothing a "serious" photographer would like to use. (SUPER ZOOM)

B&H on 34th St.

Do you have an urge to play with any of the top of the line Nikons or Canons? They're all on display to test.

Thumbs up

B&H would be my choice, but tax up there is over 8%, why not just order it. I keep my latest catalog in the garage, out of sight.
