Default A new baby

... Okay, so it's a Nikon D300s and it's accompanying MB-D10 battery grip. It's still awesome!

As of time of writing I still have my D80 stashed away. Im contemplating keeping it, but I can't for the life of me figure out why. It won't net me much on the used market, and could prove useful.

I took the new toy out for a spin today, and half to say, it really is better. Just going through my initial shots, the noise is both lower and more attractive (when present). More like a film grain than digital noise. Per-pixel and overall sharpness are also up, to the point that Ive had to tone down my post-processing sharpening techniques. The 7FPS shooting is also giggle-inducing. Good thing I got some nice fast cards.

Just thought I'd share.

it sure is
bracketing is actually worth using now.. i never used it on the D80.
3fps isnt enough to bracket because the subject has moved too far by the time the bracketing sequence is done.

the custom setting banks and multiple custom WB slots are just awesome.

i'd suggest keeping the D80.. as am I,
its worth nothing.. and it will serve well as a back-up camera. you can now use two lenses at once
i've actually contemplated bringing the D80 around with me places i go.. i dont normally carry a camera.

Congrats and I hope you'll have a lot of fun with it.

As candleman suggests, I'd keep the D80 for situations you wouldn't want to take the new baby to.

I was thinking of using the D80 as I have for the last bit: as a daily use camera in my bag with a 50mm on it.

And of course, photo attached for those interested (seen here with my 18-70 mounted)

I thought you had a new baby, a real baby I mean.

I should come here more often, I forgot you guys refer to your cameras as your babies.
Congratz btw, a cute baby indeed.
