Default Photography in Egypt.

Hey everyone
I am going away soon to egypt and was wondering if anyone could give me any tips for...

a) shooting in the desert in full sun of pyramids and how to get the perfect landscape picture. As some friends want canvases doing when I get back.

AND...

b) also how to get a fantastic group shot of us all both on a night and during the day when using a shutter release button.

Baring in mind that I only have a nikon D3000 with a 18-55mm lens. As I am only a "Beginner" and still rather new to the hobby properly.

Many thanks

Get a CPL for the day shots, and use the timer release and tripod (or other support) for group shots.

You might also consider getting an Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 all weather digital camera to go into your shirt pocket. The Egyptian weather is very demanding on a prosumer DSLR during outdoor treks. Cheers

If your camera has the option for remote release then buy a remote from ebay, I bought 2 of those universal remotes for my camera just in case one stopped working, cost me like $10 for both including P&H.

I use them all the time for night shots, for group shots I use the remote + 3 seconds so it does not have me pointing a remote at the camera.
