Default Camera insurance for overseas travel

In about a week I'm leaving for a 2 week stay in Togo, Africa and I'd kick myself if I didn't bring my camera (Canon 7D). I know I'm a procrastinator on this, but I'd really feel a lot more comfortable if I got some kind of insurance on my camera gear in case it was lost, stolen, or damaged.

I called State Farm whom I have a renters/homeowners policy from, and they said they could only cover up to $1000 worth of gear and I couldn't increase that. All in all what I'm bringing is worth a little over twice that amount, so that won't do. They told me I need to look for an independent insurer .

Does anyone have any experience with getting a temporary policy for this sort of thing? I'd love to get some quick feedback on this!

are you taking regular travel insurance for medical and cancellation/ emergency. It is cheap and ESSENTIAL for travel in Africa. DO NOT go without it. A small medical issue can become expensive if you are in a remote location. A snake bite or broken ankle can happen.

Anyway...
You should have a way of adding a luggage/ equipment portion to that policy. Maybe even you CC company has something

+1 for travel insurance. Don't leave home without it. Get a policy that will cover medical, lost luggage, delays and cancellations etc, should cover your camera as well.
