Question Need your eyes and opinion please

I just got a new computer and used my old Spyder2 to calibrate it. Once I did that everything looks much darker. I had a picture that I processed in Lightroom yesterday (pre-Calibration) and made a virtual copy and then adjusted it (post-Calibration). Please tell me which looks better and if you think I am ok in the post calibrations mode:

Pre-Calibration:
Pre calibration DSC_8986

Post-Calibration:
Post calibration DSC_8986

My concern is how these look now on the web. I thought the first one was fine yesterday before I calibrated, but now it looks very dark to me. Since I brightened it up I want to make sure the second one really looks better to everyone else.

Less blue, but on my monitor the top one looks better exposure wise. Mind, it's a bit dark, but I find the second to be too light. Depends on what you're looking for, though, style wise.

I agree, that I might have over done the exposure a little on the calibrated one, but I was trying to bring out some of the details in the shadows that were totally lost in the pre-calibration version. In the pre-calibration version I had actually dropped he original exposure by 0.05ev while in the post-calibration I had increased it by +0.78ev.

snap, get the feeling the answer is between the two.

I prefer the 1st image - although that was not the question

Second one seems a bit washed out to me. Go back into curves and pull down on the blacks a tad.

Yes, I agree I over did it a little in the second and it is washed. The point is the first image looked close to the second on my screen before I calibrated the monitor.

Agree with Jim, the first is I think better but just a little in curves will lighten up the too dark bits...Just a little, don't over do it!
