Default A Question about Book Downloads

I have an unusual question, and I apologize for revealing my lacks in computer knowledge. I recently bought a download of a book through DPS, and it apparently downloaded well. I glanced through it, and it looked great, but I didn't get a chance to read and study the whole thing before life swept me away. Now I want to go back and read it again, and I can't find it! For what should I be searching? I looked at all my pdf's and it wasn't there, and I looked at my download and documents files, and it wasn't there either. Unfortunately, I can't remember the title, but it was the book that offered a draw for a free Nikon camera.

Can anybody help me?

(And in a side note - Who won the camera?)

Thank you, everybody!

Did you download it into a particular spot or not?
Do you remember what type of file it was?
Try looking under Start>Programs>Recent documents or Start>Documents (depending on your Windows version) There you will see recent documents that you opened.
Try looking where your computer usually saves files you download from the internet. Might be hiding there.

Thanks, Torria. I appreciate your help! As far as I remember, (it was June 11), I just used the defaults, so it should have gone into my downloads file, but it didn't. I found the "bonuses" document that came with the book, but I searched for the book title, "Transcending Travel", and there was nothing.

hm..maybe you just viewed the book, but it didn't download properly?
Can you download it again or it won't be for free?
Try saving something with the default and see where it saves, maybe the book is there? Or even in Temporary files, maybe it ended up there somehow.
If the wide search doesn't find it, then I'm thinking it didn't download properly...I had that happen to me.

Search your entire hard disk for *.pdf this will find all PDF's on your machine. There shouldn't be that many unless you download lots of e-books. Look for a modified or created date around when you initally downloaded the PDF. I'm not sure but with your order number there may be a way to re-download the PDF file.

I searched all my pdf's (I only have 4!) and this book is definitely not on my hard drive. I guess it's like you said, Torria, that I viewed it but didn't actually save it. Now I have to figure out how to contact the publisher to get it re-sent.

Thanks for your help, Torria and Murtasma. Any hints on my next step are really appreciated.
