Goodbye best friend

I had some free time today so I decided to visit a nearby waterfall to see if i could get any good shots. After some time I realized I was about four feet from a tree FULL of snakes. There were so many i stood counting for a second until one jumped off and started swimming toward me, which resulted in me falling, bringing my camera into the water with me. It's currently sitting in a bed of rice, but i'm pretty sure it's done for. To protect those who don't want to see a picture of a pile of snakes, you can see it if you click here.

What kind of snakes were those?

I think northern water snake. Cottonmouths are supposed to be pretty common here but the bands look opposite of these. I've only been here a month, I forgot there are snakes in places other than home
