Here's my comparison with a 133x Transcend card and a 60mb/sec (400x) Sandisk Card.
Go CF, the whole way... don't bother with SD cards... waste of time. D3 and buffer speeds: « Impermanence Photoblog |

IMO read/write in-camera is not that big a deal unless you do alot of CH shooting in RAW. However, a UDMA card in a firewire reader is fantastic for getting the stuff into the computer. I use Sandisk Extreme IV and thier firewire reader. My D3 uses dual CF slots which can be configured in many ways (Raid1, one for Raw the other for JPEG, Overflow) Depending on your needs, I think I would set the D300 so that the SD recorded Jpeg copies of the RAW sent to the CF, or as overflow storage. I have mine set as RAID 0 (mirroring).

but i dont need huge frameraqtes for a long period, or often. the 60mbps is probably OK for me. Quote:
are you saying the D300 can do that between the CF and SD ? i thought it was an either/or situation. thanks for the info guys

The D3 has dual CF slots, so it can be used an over flow, or for dual writing for a back up or for RAW + JPG shooting.... quite handy. |
