Question how to tweak TV max value of canon eos 550d ?

hi, i just purchased a new canon eos 550d dslr. and loving it. now in order to do some light painting shots, i need a exposure longer than 30secs, but this model doesn't allow it. even old nikons like d40 would have a longer exposure time. so is there a way to get around the problem...?

please elaborate.

thanks a lot.

regards,

vishal.

Put the camera in bulb mode and get a wired trigger release.

I believe manual is the only setting that allows "bulb" mode which is what you are looking for. Bulb is where the shutter stays open for as long as you want. You need a remote for this otherwise you get movement. I rigged my own camera release system using some string and a piece of foam.
