So, I'd noticed a bad habit in me recently, I shot gun pictures and hope for a good one. And I just take pictures of all kinds of stuff.
I do get some good photos (I'm not completely void of thought when I take them hah) but I don't think about the photos enough. That reason combined with a general desire to try this out anyway led me to buying this: ![]() Nikon FE, with a 28mm and 50mm lens. Weeeeee! First thing to note - why didn't nikon keep the split shift focusing circle? It makes it so easy! |

nice camera, thnx for sharing!
I like my digital camera, I tend to stay away from film nowadays.

Split-prism focusing screens still exist. They're great for manual focus, but they mess around with autofocus systems. Hence they're not used on AF cameras. You can still get them though, and with certain bodies its actually easy to swap them out.
Glad to see another FE on the board. Mine is Photojournalist black. I'd love a 28 or 24mm lens: 50 is just too long sometimes.

Ah, thanks for the explaination.
And yeah, the 50 is good, but it can be a bit long. I was looking at a 24mm they had at the store, but it was more than twice the price of the 28. (the 28 is an Ai, not an Ai-s, so was only 8000yen ($90US?) But I doubt I will notice the difference.) On my wish list (should I decide I can afford it) is a 20mm.. oo I want one.. I like wide angles. I feel the same way towards this camera as I do my vinyl collection; I mostly use my modern mp3s (ipod/computer) but when I am in the mood vinyl is perfect. The restriction of the technology forces me to appreciate the music (or in this case, act of taking a photo). And the nostalgia is great, this camera even has the same smell as my dad's old one. Brings back memories every time I hold it up to my face. |
