Default Freelance-for a local magazine

I am meeting with a local magazine today and a but nervous to present my work and talk about ideas in which they may use me for their local needs! Any advice?Suggestions?

My portfolio and I are all set to go!!!

They have money, don't let them pull the "well we have a small budget" bullcrap.

Been doing freelance stuff here for a bit and they always have photo budgets.

Yup, if they charge for ad space, then they can afford to pay for photos.

Oh yea I didn't even think of that. I know they have internships and opps for people to shoot for them, just don't know what "ideas" to present to them other than I would be interested in shooting for them to gain more knowledge and experience!

Sorry, no offense by this.... buuuutttt.....

How can you go into the meeting without something to offer? That'd just make you look silly. No editor would hire someone who doesn't have something to contribute. You NEED to have ideas. They don't have to be terribly original or amazing, just something that will fit the magazine.

I have IDEAS....sorry I was wanting your experience advice on WHAT to expect in the meetings. I had a list of ideas for them and what I have to offer and it went great. They actually liked all my work and want me for next months issues.

what are your experiences with what you are paid for freelance? What were you paid for shoot? or job?

Depends on what they are asking for. Daily rate or single feature rate? Do they want me to edit the photos? Do they want me to write as well?
