"First one's free..." To me, the LR public betas are Adobe's gateway drug....

Thats so true!
Definitely life changing for me when compared to PS, Elements, RAW utility or anything else.

Also it saved me a bomb as I was going to switch to Mac... now I don't need to

lol! That's so absolutely true! I'm happy the final version is finally out, I'm glad that something I was worried was a bug rather than a temporarily turned off feature was just that, and I'm looking forward to upgrading because I love, love, love the Flickr integration (even if it's not quite perfect).

I started with Beta 1, and it's pretty much the reason I chose LR over Aperture. Didn't want to try to move my library over.

I tried one of the beta versions - has much changed? I'm hoping for geotagging and face detection a la Aperture...

No geotagging or face recognition but still an awesome upgrade from lightroom 2, the noise and lens correction features are a must have.

1.1TB library from LR2 upgraded in about 20 minutes, now it runs at about twice the speed (I purchased the upgrade today) -- The noise reduction, for me as a concert photographer / low light photographer is really very amazing...

It's worth it, just for that for me... Oh, and now my little boy is around, I have a 5DMk2, so I'm shooting lots of video - it manages video, too...

really very good. so far.

I tried the beta version. So freakin' sloooooooowwwwwww. I couldn't even use it.

Question for ya'll: which is better, Lightroom or Elements? Is Lightroom any better than Gimp?
