Default Maybe a stupid question but...

If I were to take some pictues and write an article for something like National Geographic or some other similar magazine is that considered Photojournalism or some other type of photography. I'm just getting into REAL photography after 24 years of thempark type photography. (Which really teaches you everything wrong) I've started doing weddings, engagements, kids photoshoots and done fairly well but I'm not a "studio" girl. I love doing outdoor daytime weddings and engagements. I hate working indoors and don't like to use all the expensive equipment (Umbrella flashes, props and backdrops etc. )
I want to see something beautiful, on the fly and shoot it! I want to be outside and shoot "a story"
Just wanted to know your thoughts on this, if I'm making any sense.

Photojournalism is the creation of "images in order to tell a news story" - according to Wikipedia, that bastion of accuracy. I'd say that pretty much fits with my idea of what photojournalism is.

If you use pictures to tell a story of something which is happening/has happened, but isn't strictly a news story, then I'd say that becomes documentary photography, or social documentary, which are all still kind of related to photojournalism, but are still different and distinct.

With anything, there are so many grey areas, and a very fine line between documentary and journalism - say you went somewhere and told a story with the pictures you took there, and that story subsequently became news - would your work have been documentary which created news, or would it have been photojournalism that didn't know it was photojournalism?
