Default Eye (or pocket book) of the beholder

I wonder how many of these photos actually sell.

The Hague Gallery

Can a photo actually be worth that much?

You'd be amazed.

It depends on size and what theyre printed on. Having it in the Hague also ensures a certain level of cachet and prestige. They're also limited prints (10s). I've never heard of the artist, but those who are more into that particular scene may and he may very well be a rather sought after artist.

That being said, their price isnt extreme. High, but not extreme. I've sold prints for $400, and Im just me, the prints were a run of 100 and were printed on simple paper. I could easily see the same print going for 2-3x that, if I changed things, and more if i made a name for myself and got a reputation.

Art is art. Remember, Van Gogh and Picasso were often considered outcasts in the art community, but their work is now extraordinarily valuable

Heh.. I live in The Hague, never heard of this guy or gallery (probably because I live in the center and Zoetemeer is outside The Hague proper), but that doesn't mean anything as I'm a nobody..

I'll have to go check these prints out in person and report back on my uniformed opinion of them haha.

And at one time you could buy an Adams for $25! But I doubt very seriously if his prints (or reprints by his son) go for $8000 USD these days.
