I only have one battery for my D40. I have left home with it still on the charger..............several times Don't feel bad, I am sure it has happened to more people that care to admit it.

I've done it so often, that I now have 8 batteries... I'm bound to have ONE that's charged.. hehe. This would never happen to me (again).

Almost as bad -- I left home and arrived at the location and my memory card was still in the computer at home. (did I say that out loud?)

Ha Ha! This is why I set my camera to not take a picture if there is no memory card. Nothing like adding 300+ shutter actuations, to get home and see the card sticking out of the computer! Another reason I started chimping the lcd too! lol!

Yeah, luckily, me too. That's how I discovered the missing card early on. Fortunately, it was only a 20 minute drive back to the house and another 20 back to the location. Meanwhile, I had 3 other people waiting for me to get my sh*t together.

Guilty, too. While on vacation, I was getting ready for a day hike. The hike was on a trail I'd likely never hike again. I faithfully loaded up my camera. A few miles into the hike, when I took the camera out for the first time, I realized that the battery was still in the charger. My wife correctly mocked me to no end!

One thing I always try to do is, before leaving the house I turn the camera on, check that I have settings default and take a picture of anything in the house just to be sure all is working properly. It's a habit that I eventually trained myself to do consistently.

Still, I've had the "dead" battery problem previously, frustrating to say the least.

Hell, we all do stupid crap. I don't know just how many times I've run off and left my laptop power cord at home. I now keep a spare in the car for when I have stupid brain farts.
