Angry Speaking of arrogance... I got nudged!!

So tonight I was the 2nd shooter for a graduation. So before things started I scoped out my spots and figured out where I needed to be and when. Then right before the thing starts, in walked a press photographer from a local paper. With his HUGE zoom.. and everywhere I went, he FOLLOWED me!! GAAH! So I walked to one of my spots, and he beat me to it and took a few shots and I tried to be polite and say excuse me, I need to get a few shots over here *it was a SMALL space and he was a big man* he NUDGED me!!!! He nudged me and got in front of me and shot more! HE was not even the photographer for the event. He was totally doing it just to be an ass.. he would shoot a few, then flip though and look at them, zoom up, zoom out.. shoot a few, look through them. Finally I just stepped in front of him, got my shots I needed and walked off. I walked across the room and got a different angle, and he followed me there. Spend the next 30 min everywhere I got he went and stood beside me. GAAH! Talk about annoying! Has this ever happened to you?

I would have politely whispered to him. "Unless you want to be the subject of a news article in your paper i would apologize and then find a spot well out of my reach." I'm not known for being shy or diplomatic though.

This is not a photographer ego thing but I did have a similar situation at the zoo once.
I waited patiently in line for a nice shot at the gorillas. There were quite a few other photographers there, waiting patiently for the children to thin out. Well, when I got to my place in line, stepped up to the glass, and started to compose, my lens hood was suddenly slammed into the glass. I turned around, and to my surprise, this lady was basically using her kid as a battering ram to break through the crowd to get a few quick snaps. I usually don't speak up in situations like that, but i made my feelings known that day, albeit diplomatically.

It would seem that the original joke is lost on you and explaining it loses the humour. Although I appreciate spelling, grammar and geography police in forums. They give me reason to be thankful that I'm not that uptight.

Press photographers are like a pack of wolves. They are afraid that someone else will get a more story telling photo than them. I know...................I'm the alpha wolf. You should be flattered that he/she followed ya around for a bit.

Was it you? LOL! He actually did have a vest like I have seen in your photos.. the kaki one with all the pockets.. and a foot long lens, AND his press badge... at a graduation of 21 students, in a church that was SMALL... I think he was compensating.. ha ha!
